In 2021, we delivered a successful project for metal trader Wynants & Zonen. Their request: more visibility, a stronger visual identity, and increased storage capacity. We took on their ambitions and achieved a compelling result.

A fresh identity and increased efficiency

Gone are the days of the dusty image of a traditional metal trader. Wynants & Zonen, based in Sint-Katelijne-Waver, was ready for a bold refresh in both style and functionality. The goal: a building that reflects the essence of their core business — while creating room for greater efficiency and more storage space.

Logical flows

Before the transformation, the site’s circulation was inefficient. Trucks delivering metal had to enter via a back road. Visitors were required to sign in on the first floor, rather than at ground level — clearly not ideal.

Now, visitors arrive, can park or proceed directly to the weighbridge and drop-off area, and then exit smoothly. Once inside the office building, they’re welcomed directly at reception without having to navigate a maze of signage. The result: much more natural and intuitive flows.

We also added a new storage shed, making it possible to store materials in a clean, secure and organised manner.

A unique design that reflects the company’s essence

This project is a showcase of creative architecture. Every element of the building expresses the company’s identity. The choice of façade material was clear from the beginning: corten steel. This copper-coloured metal is both on-trend and visually striking.

The entire façade of the office building was clad in corten steel. The sleek lines of the design give the building a distinctly modern and professional look — exactly what we had envisioned.

One unique feature of this building is the canopy along the side wall, whose design was inspired by the work of a well-known Belgian artist.
